"THE BULL"

I was doing a story on Rafa in his hometown of Manacor in januray 2005. He was still living at his parents at that time and I had the luck to take pictures everywhere including his room. In the early morning I went to shoot the practice and as it was cold outside, his body heat and his blow came out incredibly of the background. "THE NEW YORKER"

Certainly one of the most incredibles tennis courts of this serie. This clay court, really unusual in the US, is situated in Rhinebeck, in the state of New York along the Hudson river. The most amazing part is that the court is IN the "house" . His first owner, John Jacob Astor IV had built the "house" between 1902 and 1904 copying the Grand Trianon de Versailles ! After his death during the collapse of the Titanic, his wife who has survived (she was pregnant) inherited of the "house". It's the former very famous spanish architect Rafael Guastavino in association with Stanford White who built this incredible tennis couert. It was the first indoor in the United States. The court is just behind the entrance hall, like any other room but this one is just unique. I had the opportunity and luck to photograph it after several attempts... "WALK OF THE GOATS"

Picture taken at Wimbledon 2019. The two greatests players of all time Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal walking to the Center Court, the temple of tennis, before their semi-final. First time since their unbelievable final in 2008, the match of the century. I was placed in one of the alley of Wimbledon, far from the centre court. A unique spot where you can see this corridor. I love this moment where the players are by themselves, very calm and focused before entering the crowded arena. MONUMENT

It is 9:15pm, all dark on the Centre Court when Rafa serves for his second match point of what is named today the match of the century... After 4 hours and 47 minutes, Nadal couldn't believe he had won his first Wimbledon against the greatest player of all time and king of grass Federer. The scene with Roger completely dejected, the ball still on court, the ballboy running, the flash from the crowd and Rafa crying watching his family in his box illustrates well the intensity and history. "RED BALLET"

Rafael Nadal during practice at the Madrid Open 2009. When I discovered those huge red curtains on the practice courts I was hoping to see Rafa playing on it. I've waited every day to see the rain coming so he would practice inside. And it happened. As usual, before every match, Rafa gets ready by jumping in the corridor leading to the court. That day, he was playing on the Suzanne Lenglen, the best court to shoot this moment because there is much more room than the entrance of the centre court. Surprisingly, I was alone...
